The program is a new, innovative approach to integrating medical and dental care in the same setting. If scheduling allows, medical care and dental hygiene can be combined in a single visit.
Dental hygiene care can also be provided at locations throughout the community. The program is designed to increase access to good dental care in areas where access has been limited, especially for low-income, uninsured (dental), and Medicaid recipients. A public health dental hygienist may provide on-site dental hygiene care, including screenings, cleanings, and dental education. For children, we also provide fluoride treatment. For those with full or partial dentures, we offer cleanings and oral cancer screenings.
Our dental hygiene team will bring portable equipment to your location. This will include a dental chair, lights, suction machine and free oral hygiene supplies for patients to take home.
Good oral health is essential to overall physical and psychological health. Poor oral hygiene is linked to health problems such as premature birth and low birth weight in pregnant women, heart disease, stroke, difficulty in controlling blood sugar in diabetics, rheumatoid arthritis, chronic kidney disease, asthma and other diseases. Self-confidence, employability and school performance in children can all be affected by poor oral health appearance.
There is no cost to your organization to offer this service on-site — all you need to do is provide the space. Welsh Mountain will bill the insurance company directly. For the uninsured, we offer a sliding fee discount based on family size and income.
